Orange Recap: Promoting future tech talent
January 22, 2025
At Orange Belgium, we believe innovation starts with people—people like you. So, just to refresh your Orange memory… That’s why we’ve partnered with Ecole Polytechnique de Bruxelles through our Tech Academy, creating opportunities for growth, learning, and collaboration.
This autumn, we joined several exciting events that brought us closer to the next generation of professionals. Let’s dive into our highlights.
Meeting tomorrow’s experts
Did you spot us at the HEPL Job Fair in Liège or the UCL Career & Internships Night in Louvain-la-Neuve? These events brought students, companies, and academic leaders together to bridge the gap between education and real-world opportunities.
During the job fair in Liège, our team showcased exciting internship opportunities and during the Career & Internships Night in Louvain-la-Neuve, our young graduates shared their experiences, connecting with students ready to launch their tech careers. For students, these gatherings are a unique chance to align their academic paths with industry needs – and for us, it’s an opportunity to meet tomorrow’s tech leaders. Nice to meet you indeed!

François Genon (IT Project Manager) & Thomas Vandermeersch (Young Graduate – Technical Service Manager) – UCL Job Fair
Next up: the IT Jobs Exchange. What if networking didn’t feel like networking? And tasted good too? In October, students and alumni joined rotating dinner tables to discuss AI, cybersecurity, and career growth with industry leaders. Our Deputy CIO shared real-life insights into his role, giving attendees a glimpse into the possibilities of a tech career. Their delicious takeaway? An opportunity to ask questions, build connections, and gain actionable advice from professionals who’ve been where you are now.
Now imagine stepping into a “Telecom Theme Park” where you can pilot drones, experience AI, and create your own game. That’s what over 600 future engineers experienced at the Nokia Tech Day in Antwerp. Orange was present to showcase cutting-edge tech and to champion sustainability. At the Sustainability and Durability booth, our Operations Program Manager Heidi Verhofstede, was available to engage with students about the importance of STEM studies for building a more sustainable digital ecosystem in Belgium.
What a way to kick off November: a perfect blend of innovation and purpose.

Supporting diversity with Speed Networking and the Ladies! Cyber Get Together
Connecting 70 students with inspiring women with a STEM background, this student-driven event at ULB was all about empowering the next generation. Through a rotating tables format, students had the chance to sit down with Orange professionals in small groups, creating an intimate setting for meaningful conversations. They shared their career journeys, advice, and insights, proving that diversity truly is the driving force behind innovation.
Innovation thrives when everyone’s voice is heard. That’s why events like Ladies! Cyber Get Together are so vital. Orange Cyberdefense brought professionals together to discuss managing cyber crises, tour the Cyber Experience Center, and explore how women are shaping the future of cybersecurity.
It’s conversations like these that can spark new ideas and open doors to career paths you might not have considered before.
