Orange celebrates inclusion on International Girls in ICT Day!
1 June 2022
Orange is proud to be committed to inclusion and diversity
This year, April 28 was dedicated to International Girls in ICT Day. A global initiative that encourages girls and young women to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and pursue careers in communication technologies (ICT). For this special occasion we invited Michèle Mees, co-founder of Inclusion Now, to speak about how an inclusive and balanced organizational culture can transform a company's outlook.
Here are 4 key ideas that have inspired Orange and require our commitment, today and tomorrow:
- Diversity is a fact; inclusion is a choice
- Improving diversity should not be driven by reaching quotas but should be considered normal and positive for the company
- Inclusion also means valuing all modes of communication and all types of behavior. From introverts to extroverts, … everyone is equal
- Inclusion is not just about HR but requires everyone’s commitment

After the inspiring lecture, our #ProudToBeOrange members were also able to participate in the co-creation of two projects close to our hearts. The first project involves getting children, and more specifically young girls, from underprivileged backgrounds excited about technology. Together with TaDa pedagogues, our team members will put STEM education in the spotlight and co-create the Orange program for weekend schools of the 22/23 school year.
The second project our team is working on is about finding new ways to attract more women to join Orange and guide them in developing their careers. A great initiative that we’re very excited about, as we are more motivated than ever to strive for a complete inclusive and balanced organizational culture.
In summary, Orange looks up to all the inspiring women in ICT around the world and will always be committed to inclusion and diversity. After all, that is what makes us #ProudToBeOrange!
